Free fall with initial velocity

For a passenger of a train it does not make any difference whether the train is at rest or whether the train is moving with a constant velocity, meaning that the train moves all the time with the same speed and in the same direction. Objects fall exactly the same way as they do when the train is stopped.
Consequently, this case is exactly the same as the case of the train at rest which we have studied in the previous pages.
