Free fall with initial velocity


The horizontal distance d which the golf ball travels in an interval of time given by t2=2v0sin(θ)/g is determined from the relation

d = x(t2) = v0xt2 = v0 cos(θ) 2v0sin(θ) / g = v02 sin(2θ) / g

Walter Lewin predicts the distance d for three different angles, θ=45o, θ=30o and θ=60o, of his shooting device with the horizontal. His results are collected in the table below
