We consider a steady flow
which means that the amount of fluid
which enters per unit of time on the lefthand side of the tube,
is the same at all times.
It is also equal to the amount of fluid
which leaves per unit of time on the righthand side of the tube,
since we consider an incompressible fluid.
However, the speed of the fluid is not everywhere the same. In more narrow parts of the streamtube the fluid flows faster. Remember that the speed of the fluid is faster where the density of streamlines is larger. |
