For the interference of monochromatic light, we must return to the initial formula, given by

u(x,t) = A sin(ω1t-k1x+φ1) + A sin(ω2t-k2x+φ2)


At page 4 we derived, that by defining

2a = (ω12)t - (k1+k2)x + φ1 + φ2

    
and     

2b = (ω12)t - (k1-k2)x + φ1 - φ2

the above sum can be written as
