Flow in a streamtube

Force and pressure are related by

force = pressure × area

Hence we may rewrite the previous relations by

ΔW₁ = P₁ × S₁ × Δl₁ = P₁ × ΔV₁

and

ΔW₂ = P₂ × S₂ × Δl₂ = P₂ × ΔV₂

where P₁/S₁ and P₂/S₂ represent the pressure/area in the fluid on respectively the lefthand side and the righthand side of the amount of fluid under consideration.
