3rd pause:
Just before the third
reflection from the righthand side enters.
Here, the video just catched the moment that all displacements vanished.
When the reflected wave moves to the left we observe
standing waves because of its interference with the incoming wave
and the reflected waves.
But the maximum amplitudes of the oscillatory movements are NOT
four times as large as the amplitude of the incoming wave,
as one would expect.
4th pause:
Just before the fourth
reflection from the lefthand side enters.
When the reflected wave moves to the right we observe
standing waves because of its interference with the incoming wave
and the reflected waves.
But the maximum amplitudes of the oscillatory movements are NOT
five times as large as the amplitude of the incoming wave,
as one would expect.
5th pause:
Just before the fifth
reflection from the righthand side enters.
The incoming wave and the five relections
interfere in such a way that it
results in no oscillatory movement at all.
They interfere destructively.
6th pause: end of the video.
